| Conquering the Star |
Yesterday was indeed a good day for me(well most of it). The went to the game with a gut feeling that we'll won this game. Since the other goalkeeper was not in the bus, it means that I was the only goalkeeper for the game. A situation that I never been into until now. The game was us against the Star publication group, one of the respected newspaper publication around. Like the Kilat team, this team also fielded a score of old people, by old I didn't mean old old, but more to wise old. I slept on the way to the game (in the bus), so I was a bit disoriented when we reached there. They manage to score a goal in the very first minute by short corner, thanks to Acap who completely give me a blind spot - the ball came right through his dodging antics. Then we manage to level the game by a short corner move we devised like in 20 seconde pre-game. Then once again, thanks to disorientation, I manage to let loose another goal. In the half time, I thought we did quite good but Razi came blasting with angry comments which I think just bleached the team spirit. What the fuck! He's the one who's not have enough stamina. What the hell, then we started the 2nd half. Like 15 minutes into the game, Tapa was injured by the Star's ghurka player, resulting the player to receive a green card (like a red card, but the player should only left the game for 5 minutes). Realizing that we were on the advantage number-wise, we pounded their D area like kamikaze planes. And Jo manage to score a field goal, leveled the game to 2-2. The Star team then started to attack us like there's no tomorow. I personally manage to stop some tries, and I ordered the defense line to hold back the opposite stikers man to man. They tried everything to score the deciding goal, by deflection, by short corner, by dribbling, but thanks to the defence line all of their work was totally failed. Then like 10 minutes into the end time, we got a short corner, and Razi converted it into a goal, which for the first time we manage to lead the game. The Star team looked like an piss-off awoken bear, pounding our D line with attack after attack. I felt very tired that it was almost impossible for me to stand. I manage to save a critical try, which was peculiar, since there's no thinking thing involved, all just cold pure reflex move. The game ended with us winning our first game. Next game, we will face a much strongger team, the Signal or Semboyan team from the army division. Post game, I was quite taken aback that the team undermine my contribution. Whatever, the feeling of victorious and the fact that I worked my ass out for the game, is quite satisfying to me. On the way back (and to the game actually), Napi or self-proclaimmed Rooney, couldn't shut the fuck up. Some time his antics were funny but most of time it was purt annoying. After reaching the college, we headed to the 'highway' to have a big-group-jock dinner. |
